DEE’S LATEST NEWS 9

Good morning,

Our Wednesday night dinners began last week in delicious style. 28 members and 3 guests enjoyed roast lamb with all the trimmings. Many, many thanks to Pen and Wendy Mathers for such yummy food. And of course thanks to those who helped, Wayne, Jill, June and our barmen.

Slowly but surely our bowlers are returning from their winter escapes. Welcome back to the Derbyshires this week. There is a tale to be told about young Bill but it’s so good it will feature in our MBC Australia Day honour awards. And a big welcome back to the Kimptons. Life at the club is always a little happier when you’re with us.

It was so good to see Nick Zorbas who popped in last week to support our teams. Nick has had a truly difficult time but now hopes to be back on the green before too long. Something we will all look very much forward to.

Functions continue to provide revenue for our club. Many thanks to Roger Morrisson for his outstanding work with our school groups. And to our hard working President and Vice President thanks for working on Sunday.

Saturday was wonderfully successful on the green. MBC were on fire!  Particular congratulations to Sue Swann, Anita D’Andrea and Maurice Bernstein who won the ‘drinks’, the first from the 6 a side teams…..special mention to Allen Thomas, Sue Aarons, Pek Tee Kimpton and Joe Aarons who were pipped at the post. Also congratulations to Sandra Knott on her first game. And she played very well I’m told! It must run in the family.

Phin was fortunate enough to attend the farewell for Jon Faine. Lucky man.

Congratulations and thank you to Rodger Kimpton who is now an accredited Greens Inspector.

Our members are seeing Downton Abbey, reading Educated(Tara Westover) and watching Outlander(Netflix).

I’ll certainly be seeing you soon. There’s Wednesday dinner, Thursday training, Friday drinks and now we are so fortunate to have the opportunity to attend a coaching session with Joe Aarons on a Sunday morning from 10 to 12. Exceptional generosity from Joe, thank you. And thank you to Andy P for his delicious home made muffins which went so well with a wine on Friday. Yum.  Also there’s the Lighthouse function on Sunday afternoon.

This Wednesday night our own special master chef is in action. Please text Stuart or John F if your name isn’t yet down.
