The Malvern

MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT

Hi All

Well a great weekend for Malvern Bowling Club with all 3 teams winning.   Our first win for the 6 a side team and to make it even better we had the highest winning rink in Sue Swann, Anita D’Andrea and Maurice Bernstein winning by 16 shots.

We have some great weekly vouchers provided by our sponsor in Regis for the best winning rinks and I will have these for teams as follows:

Week 1 – Tuesday – No winning rinks

Week 1 – Saturday – Rink of David Knott, Andy Smith, John Murdoch and Stuart Arnold-Levy

Week 2 – Tuesday – Rink of Jill McLean, Rose Seiber, Helen Borthwich and Gregor Dougall

Week 2 – Saturday – Rink of Sue Swann, Anita D’Andrea and Maurice Bernstein.

Very very important dates for this week:

Sunday 20th October – 3pm – 7pm – The Lighthouse Foundation

See details below.   The Malvern Bowls Club is supporting this great cause.   If you don’t know much about the Lighthouse Foundation there is a little info below.   We will be asking for a few volunteers to help on the day but more so to contribute it would be great to support the foundation by attending and buying a ticket.   The club will be raising funds on the day through the sale of drinks for the foundation.    Keep the time clear.

ABOUT LIGHTHOUSE FOUNDATION

Lighthouse Foundation provides homeless young people from backgrounds of long-term neglect and abuse, with a home, a sense of family, and around-the-clock therapeutic care that is individually tailored, trauma informed and proven to work.

For over 28 years Lighthouse has successfully supported over 900 young people to break the cycle of homelessness, move into employment and educational opportunities, and overcome damaging life experiences.

Each suburban Lighthouse home provides safety, therapeutic counselling and guidance for up to four young people, supported by two live-in carers and a dedicated team of psychologists and health professionals.

Through their Lighthouse experience, young people can heal, learn again to relate to others and start to rebuild their lives.

Lighthouse’s unique Therapeutic Family Model of CareTM enables young people to stay with Lighthouse for as long as they need and they can continue to access support through our Outreach programs after they transition into independent living.

Lighthouse depends on generous community support to enable our important work to continue.

Coaching for newer bowlers:

A reminder that Joe Aarons will commence coaching for new members from 10:00am – 12:00 midday commencing this week.  If it’s the basics you are after to set you up as a better bowler then please invest a little time with Joe who is giving up his Sunday morning.  I know there are a lot of bowlers who will benefit from this.

Thanks to all those that have volunteered to help with the Lighthouse Foundation and are baking cakes etc, it will make for a great day.    Let’s have a great week and see you Thursday at training.   Good luck to Div 2 for Tuesday pennant tomorrow.

Cheers,

Stuart
