Eiko and Olive pairs champs

Eiko and Olive have taken out this year’s pairs championship 22-14 with a gritty display of excellent draw bowling against Andy and Suzanne who was backing up after a lengthy battle with Helen in the morning.

The match resembled the pattern of the morning’s singles final with Eiko and Olive skipping away to 8-1 after five ends, only to see the lead reeled in by Suzanne and Andy to 10-9 after ten.

From there, Eiko and Olive snuck away again with a single, two and a three to 16-9 after thirteen of eighteen ends.

Suzanne and Andy breathed some life back into the match with a four on end fourteen however Eiko and Olive responded with a two, down one and a four to move to an unassailable lead after seventeen ends.

The match had many highlights with tight heads and every end drawing applause, oohs and aahs from the spectators.

Well done ladies.

Hello. I am Michael Classon. I have lived in Malvern most of my life. I call it my home town. Playing bowls is a great joy to me - I have always loved being part of a sporting team and being involved in the administration of the sport at club and State level has been a wonderful hobby where I have met many extraordinary people who have volunteered countless hours to ensure that our game continues to be available to all levels of participants. My message to new and experienced bowlers is make sure you have some fun every time you play.
