MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT

Dear Members,

I am really pleased to report that the Div 5, Tuesday Pennant side had a great comeback win.   This team struggles weekly to fill a team and despite being more than 20 shots down at the break they fought on each rink and manufactured a great win.    Well done to all bowlers and a special mention to Roger Morrison who has taken the responsibility for not just this but also the Div 7 team on Saturday and is certainly instilling a sense of pride and belonging to all bowlers who play in these teams.

Let’s not also forget the Div 3 team that has now won 34 in a row and is just in the top 4 after a rocky start due mainly to availability issues.   Great to see this team back where it belongs.

On Saturday a couple of last end away losses prove how close we are to success.  Whilst availability remains an issue all bowlers are working hard and trying to improve at both practice and during the game.   The Div 4 sides currently after 6 rounds sits 3rd and the Div 7 team just outside the 4 although this current position is not a true reflection as all other sides have had either byes or walkovers and to this point we have not so we look on target to play finals and look at that promotion to Div 6.

Other items:

Choral Afternoon

What can I say that hasn’t been said, a great afternoon managed by Anita D’Andrea and her large happy bunch of supporters.    South of the River were great and all in attendance raved about them and then the food spread that was laid on.

From a club perspective this was a great fundraiser as well as a great opportunity to see members relaxed and enjoying themselves.

WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED!!!!

Hocking Stuart Day

This event is scheduled for late November but will not happen at this date as we have not been able to tie down Hocking Stuart, we will work with them and then reschedule.

Regis

Forms are up in the club for volunteers.    If you have a few hours a week the residents could use a hand!!!

East Malvern Branch – Bendigo Bank:

The East Malvern Branch of Bendigo Bank and specifically Peter Norman and Ruth are great supporters of our club.    Their major sponsor day is Nov 24th when next we are on home soil.     Please consider the Bank for all your mortgage and finance needs or investment options.    We are working closely on a community project with them which will be great for the club and for the community.    I am clear that as a club we need to do more for the community and having the continued support of the East Malvern Branch of Bendigo Bank is a great asset, once again they have supported us as we look to have a disabled toilet put into the club rooms.

Back in Motion

The Physio will be in the house.   THIS THURSDAY AT TRAINING – 4:30 – 5:15 Tanya will be in attendance.    If you have any sore points or concerns see Tanya and she can have a quick look and assessment for you.

Practice

Great session last week with Rodger in charge.   Yard on shots between bowls, saw a lot of that on Saturday.    Please support Rodger this week as he continues to work on skills and that includes Jack rolling.    Rodger will be supported ably by Joe Aarons on his return from overseas.

Club Competitions

Up to qtr finals in the womens and mens singles and pairs.      Some unbelievable matches this year with so many of them coming down to 1 or 2 shots.   Please support all bowlers as they try and win one of the major club events.

Finals for the Men’s and Ladies Singles and Men’s and Ladies Pairs will be on Sunday 16th December.    There will be some wine tasting and food and I encourage all members to make a day of it.    You will be able to buy the wines at a discounted rate.    Please put this date in your diary!!!

As we get closer to Xmas please be careful on the roads and look after yourself and your Families.

Good luck and good bowling!!!!

Cheers

Stuart
