A wonderful day of bowls and friendship was enjoyed today by the large group who attended the club to watch the final of the Ladies’ Singles Club Championship. The day began at 10:30am with Andy Barraclough and Janet Allen facing off to see who would become the Ladies’ Champ for this season. Some wonderful shots were bowled by both ladies and there was much applause and many cries of “Oh, wow!” as the game transpired. Andy Barraclough was the eventual victor and we all congratulate her, as well as acknowledging some excellent bowling from Janet.
After the (appropriate for Australia Day) barbeque lunch break prepared by Wayne, Michael, Helen and Eiko, and several cold drinks as the temperature climbed, we all teamed up to play social bowls and have a few laughs. Due to the heat, an hour or so later we all retired to the clubroom for more coldies and deliciously iced fruit and cheesecake.
Altogether one more of the great days we enjoy at Malvern Bowling Club. We were delighted that Olive Harding, one of our Life Members, was able to attend, and that we had overseas visitors from Singapore celebrating the day with us as well. Thank you to everyone who came along and congratulations again to Andy Barraclough, who has achieved a “hat-trick” (or is it “trifecta”?) as Malvern Bowling Club Ladies’ Singles Champion 2008-2009, 2012-2013 and now 2015-2016.
Andy joins our Men’s Singles Champion, Stuart Arnold-Levy as Malvern Bowling Club’s champions of the season. We wish them both all the very best as they go forward to play in the Champion of Champions competitions ahead!
