100th. Birthday

Yesterday the Malvern Bowling Club was chosen by the family, as the venue to celebrate the one hundredth birthday of past member and champion, Joan Elliston. Joan was an associate member of the club in the seventies and eighties and was ladies champion in seasons  1982/83,1984/85, and 1988/89. Life member Marty Palmer well remembers playing and competing with Joan but was unable to call in and say hello.

The function was very successful, all present including most of Joan’s seventeen grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and voted the venue as being most appropriate and very suitable.

Messages of congratulations from the Queen, the Governor General and the Prime Minister were on display as was a photo of Mr W H McLennan, first Vice President and later President of the club, taken in 1911 by Joan’s grandfather.
