The first day of the Club Championships saw the following results –
Female Novice Champion – Jenny Martin defeating Gerda Evans
Male Novice Champion – Matthew Franceschini defeating Ian Granter
Mixed Pairs – Flip Tozer and Andrew Hicks defeating Olga and Peter Nowatschenko (below)
It was an excellent day of bowling.
Day Two
In the early session John Kingsley took on Peter Nowatschenko. The contest was a rollercoaster with both players holding the lead at various stages. Peter was to eventually succeed and take out the Men’s Title.
In the Women’s, Olga Nowatschenko took an early lead and while Jenni Martin mounted a couple of challenges, Olga prevailed to take out her consecutive title.
The Pairs were played in the afternoon with Olga teaming up with Anne Franceschini to take on Flip Tozer and Anne Burns. It was pretty close during the day, but Olga and Anne built up a handy lead with only a few ends to play. Flip and Anne lifted but Olga and Anne Franceschini proved too strong.
In the Men’s Pairs Gerald Meuli and Peter Nowatschenko got an early break on Wayne Martin and Baden McLean which proved insurmountable.
Congratulations to all the victors and finalists. All the finals were played in the right spirit – amicably competitive.
Also thank you to the volunteers who made the day function with plenty of food and nibbles for spectators.
