Opening of the Green 2015/2016

Drizzle, cold and rain did not dampen the spirits yesterday of the 40 or so club members and supporters who attended the annual Opening of the Green ceremony.

Following some brief comments by our President, Michael Classon, introducing the current club committee, the first jacks were rolled by our esteemed Life Members, Olive Harding and Marty Palmer.  Following this, our reigning Club Champions, Denis (“Killer”) Kilmartin and Eiko Sakai delivered the first bowls.

Teams assembled on the green to play just eight ends before the weather got the better of us and we retired to the clubrooms for a wonderful Devonshire Tea, assembled by Penny Gamble, ably assisted by June Lee and Sasha Arnold-Levy.  Sincere thanks as usual go to Penny for her organisation of this important aspect of the day.  It was wonderful to come in out of the cold and rain to hot pots of tea and scones.
