MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT

Well another busy week at the club has just finished with Functions everywhere.

Firstly some thanks……
Thanks Ron Scerri, the fence looks great and your involvement at the club since joining has been much appreciated
Thanks to Roger Morrisson for all his hard work with school kids ably supported by Sandra Knott, Michael Pappas and Denis Kilmartin (apologies if I missed anyone here who has also helped, it is a great initiative and exposes a whole lot of young folk to this great game)
Thanks again to Joe Aarons and Terry Cashmore (not Silberer – my bad) for their work on Sunday mornings which have been well attended and the feedback really positive, once again a great way to learn the game the right way…..
Thanks Michael Pappasand Andy Smith, your dedication to assisting around the club and especially last week with functions is much appreciated
Thanks to all the members who volunteered to assist at functions last week, you are the lifeblood of the club and without your assistance none of this would be possible
Thanks to Suzanne Gibbs for running a brilliant Sandbelt 4’s event, as usual everything was perfectly arranged and the feedback on the green and organisation of the event was first class……well done!!!!
Well done to the Div 6 side and a special thanks to Wayne Martin for filling in at very very short notice and making a difference.    This helped the Div 6 side to a win over the favoured Armadale side and with a number of bowlers being available again from this week we are in good shape in pennant at the half way of the season.
Now……..
We have a couple of events that I am hopeful that the members will get around and support in the next week or so and they are as follows:
This weekend we have the finals of the pairs and singles on Sunday 15th December.    It would be great for members to come along and see some of Malverns best do battle to win their individual honours.
Pairs will commence at 9:00am, ladies on Rink 5 and mens on rink 7.
Singles will commence at 1:00pm, ladies on rink 4 and Mens on rink 6
I will be appointing markers for the singles events.
We have two first time players in the mens in Andy Smith and Rodger Kimpton and Olga Nowatshencko trying to beat the experienced Andy Barraclough in the ladies.    We wish you all well.
As part of the tradition Penny Gamble (thanks again Pen) will put together a sensational tasting table for members to experience with cheeses and meats etc.   We have our friends at Young Henry’s doing beer sampling of their range and we will have a new white wine and a sparkling red for members to sample and then buy a glass.
As we are spreading a little Xmas cheer it is the pleasure of the committee to provide the sampling table at no charge to members this year so please get around and have a look at the games and support the bowlers.
Xmas breakup
December 18th, at a cost of $25 per head including your first drink.    Once again Penny and her merry band of elfs will excite your tastebuds at Xmas, great chance to wish all members a great Xmas break.    We already have more than 50 on the list which is great and we look forward to seeing everyone there.
This week on Saturday Div 4 travels again to Middle Park and Div 6 is home again to Caulfield Park as is the 6 a side home to MCC7.
Teams will be out Thursday

Cheers

Stuart
