The Malvern
Bowling Club

MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT

Hi All,

Well the season takes a break from pennant (and I breathe a sigh of relief with no selection this week)………
Teams are well placed after 6 weeks with 3 out of our 5 teams in the top four and others very competitive.    Our major goal this year was to get the Div 4 Saturday team to Div 3 and so far we are on track with 5 wins from 6 games and 20 odd points clear but hard games against Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley and our friends at Ashburton to follow.    The newly promoted Div 6 team on Saturday have also had an outstanding start to the season and sit inside the top 4 which shows the strength of the club with the new bowlers coming to the club providing much greater depth all around………well done to all.
Great to see a number of new members joining and a special thanks here to Joe Aarons for giving his Sundays up to educate new bowlers in bowling and etiquette.
The feedback is very positive and we have had up to 14 bowlers, new and inexperienced looking to improve with Joe in technique and this all goes well for the club.
This week we have our very first Regis Cup to follow in the tradition of the Cabrini Cup and the Hocking Stuart Cup and we look forward to a great social day at the club……remember……no biting, scratching or kicking……..unless of course you think this will help……the Malvern way……
We are looking at having the annual Xmas Cocktail Party on 18th December with details to come.     This will be just after the club championships finals day on the 15th December and we hope to have a spirit and beer tasting day to accompany this like last years wine tasting which was such a great success.
Great Wednesday night last week with Michael O’Brien and celebrating Rob Franceschini’s birthday at the club was a bonus especially for those cake loving members with a great cake provided by Anne.
See you all tonight at training.
Tonight we will be doing leads and 3rds versus 2nds and skips in a drawing challenge, 2 rounds of 5 ends.
Joke of the week:
A kid asks his dad, “What’s a man?” The dad says, “A man is someone who is responsible and cares for their family.” The kid says, “I hope one day I can be a man just like mom!”

And on that note……

Cheers

Stuart
